³⁸ He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? ³⁹ Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Have you seen those T.V. spots where Publishers Clearing House randomly shows up at someone’s door with a check for one million dollars.  Who are these guys?  Why have I never heard of them except for those television commercials.  Where did they get all this money that they can just randomly hand it out!  I don’t know. 

I have a hard time believing that scenario actually happens. Although, when you hear the gospel message for the first time it can be sort of unbelievable.  I mean, when you first turn and open the door of your heart to see Jesus alive and offering you a check to cover all your sin. It can all seem surreal.  I can see why the disciples “did not believe it because of joy and amazement…”  

I chuckle at those Publishers Clearing House commercials when I see the initial reaction of the people, they don’t know whether to close the door or actually believe its happening.  Maybe you’re at a place of stunned amazement right now.  Are you troubled, have doubts risen in you mind because you don’t believe Jesus is alive and present in your situation? Open the door to Jesus, cash the check by trusting in his promises.  He’s really in the midst of the situations in you life, just like he promised.

 ⁵ Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”  Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

Believe it! It’s real!...Do you want the money..or the promise?
