Cross the Line Weekend

Saturday, September 29, 2012, 5:00 PM - 6:10 PM

CROSS THE LINE Weekend -- September 29 & 30

Now is the time to Cross the Line and be baptized or

become a member of Impact!

Last September we asked:  “WHAT IS KEEPING YOU FROM BEING BAPTIZED?”  Over 15 people were baptized that day, and 14 more in the weeks that followed.  Now we are asking again!

September 29-30 will be Cross the Line weekend. As we conclude our REDLINE WORSHIP series that weekend, we are asking: What’s keeping you from being baptized?  In Acts 8, one of the followers of Jesus talks to a man who has believed in God for many years about Jesus.  The man points to some nearby water and says “Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?” Many people attending Impact haven’t yet taken the important step of baptism.

Some just haven’t gotten around to doing it. Some mistakenly think they have to stop sinning or know more before they are ready. Others feel taking this step will somehow dishonor the choice their parents made for them when they were babies. The Bible teaches clearly that baptism is a choice to be made personally by everyone who desires to follow Jesus when they are old enough to decide to believe in Jesus, turn from their sins, declare Him as Lord, and decide to die to their sins.  Other than Jesus, no perfect people have ever been baptized!

On September 29-30 Pastor Steve will teach again why making this decision doesn’t dishonor anyone and honors Christ. After teaching this we will just ask… “Why shouldn’t you be baptized?” And we will give you the chance to Cross the Line and make the decision to be baptized.

We are scheduling baptisms for Cross the Line Weekend now and on that day we will be ready with clothes and towels to baptize anyone who decides to spontaneously take this step.

ALSO ON CROSS THE LINE WEEKEND:  We will be introducing those who have Crossed the Line by being baptized and/or placing membership with our congregation during 2012. If you want to Cross the Line and place membership, now would be a great time to express your desires. You can email us at:  .

If you have questions about baptism you can set an appointment with any of our ministers or attend the following classes to get answers.

Starting Point Class:  (for those considering Baptism or Membership)

Sunday, September 23  from 2 – 6 p.m. in room 225

Baptism Class for Children:  (a parent must attend with them)

Baptism Orientation Class:  (for adults planning to be baptized on 9/29 or 30)

We are hoping to baptize many on this day… So what about you?  What’s keeping you from being baptized?
